To alleviate the risk of salt corrosion, you should wash your car at least once every week. This ensures that all the road salt that may have accumulated throughout the week are removed and the car is not at risk of rust and corrosion.

Other than the exterior parts of your car, wash the interior as well and vacuum accordingly. Wash the undercarriage also to remove all traces of salt. Ensure that you get to all the crevices and cracks that may bring in moisture and cause corrosion.

You can go a notch higher and wrap the car up just before winter. This is a one-time solution that will last many years. While driving, try to avoid mud puddles and potholes if you can. Also, avoid following snow plow trucks as they will splash snow to your car. This will cause salt corrosion in your car that you’re trying to avoid.
