When it comes to maintaining your vehicle, the motor oil is one of the most important parts of keeping your engine running smoothly. With a large number of myths out there regarding motor oil, we wanted to take on some of these myths head on.

One of the most common myths is that you need to change your oil every 3,000 miles. If you use your vehicle regularly, this can be a good idea. But many recent models along with the motor oil itself has been designed to go further. Some vehicles are capable of going up to 10,000 miles between oil changes. The best thing to do is consult your owner's manual to see how often your vehicle needs changing.

Another myth is that the oil filter doesn't need to be changed each time. The filter is designed to remove the dirt and other particles from the oil and are designed to be changed between changes. If you don't change it, it can cause the engine to not perform like it should.
